Abstract

The importance of visionary leadership in facing the disruptive era to transform Islamic boarding schools in the digital era. Islamic boarding schools, as traditional Islamic educational institutions, face significant challenges in integrating digital technology with the underlying Islamic values. This study aims to explore effective visionary leadership strategies in directing Islamic boarding schools towards sustainable digital transformation. The research method used is a case study with a qualitative approach by interviewing Islamic boarding school leaders and using content analysis to explore key themes in their visions and strategies. Data validity checks will be carried out using method triangulation, data source triangulation, and researcher triangulation. The data analysis techniques used are: data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions. This study shows that the importance of visionary leadership in the context of Islamic boarding schools in the digital era is not only limited to the use of technology, but more on the wise integration of Islamic values that underlie Islamic boarding schools with technological innovation. Effective visionary leadership is able to direct Islamic boarding schools to not only survive, but also thrive in facing the challenges presented by this disruptive era. In this case, innovation is not only seen as the use of new technology, but also as a transformation in the approach to education, management, and community engagement of Islamic boarding schools. Thus, this study contributes to enriching our understanding of how visionary leadership can play a central role in creating a sustainable future for Islamic boarding schools in the digital era.
