MAXIMA: Jurnal Pendidikan Matematika is published twice a year, in January and July. All articles published in this journal undergo a peer-review process conducted by the Board of Editors and Reviewers, which includes both internal and external experts.
The peer-review process begins with an initial evaluation by the Board of Editors to ensure that each submitted manuscript complies with the Author Guidelines and the Journal Template. Editors with relevant academic expertise carefully examine and verify that the manuscript meets these standards. Following this evaluation, editors provide their assessment using a standardized evaluation form. If the manuscript does not yet conform to the Author Guidelines or journal template, it will be returned to the author for revision.
During this editorial screening, the Editorial Team also performs a similarity check using Turnitin to ensure the originality of the manuscript. Once a manuscript passes this stage, it proceeds to the peer-review stage, where it is sent electronically to reviewers — both internal and external.
The reviewers are responsible for evaluating the substantive content of the article. They provide constructive comments and suggestions related to the state of the art, conceptual framework, theoretical foundation, and other relevant aspects of the manuscript. The journal currently implements a single-blind review system and is gradually transitioning to a double-blind review process. The review process is conducted ethically, focusing solely on the substance of the work. Reviewers are expected to provide clear, well-argued feedback and avoid any form of personal criticism toward the author.
Reviewers are also tasked with identifying the relevance of legal documents, concepts, theories, and previous studies cited in the manuscript, as well as pointing out relevant references that have not been included by the author.
The entire review process is conducted electronically. After the peer-review stage is completed, the Editor-in-Chief makes the final decision on whether the article is accepted for publication, taking into consideration the initial editorial assessment, reviewers’ evaluations, the validity of the study, and the overall contribution of the manuscript to the field of mathematics education. The process concludes with acceptance, copyediting, and publication of the article.
