Allegations of Research Misconduct
Allegations of Research Misconduct
Darussalam English Journal (DEJ) is committed to maintaining the integrity, transparency, and reliability of scholarly publications. Research misconduct includes fabrication, falsification, plagiarism, citation manipulation, and other serious ethical violations in conducting, reviewing, or reporting research and preparing manuscripts. When research misconduct is suspected, the editors and editorial board will follow the best practices recommended by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) to ensure that allegations are handled fairly, objectively, and confidentially.
The process for handling allegations of research misconduct includes the following steps:
Initial Assessment
The editors will assess the allegation to determine whether it falls within the scope of research misconduct. The editors will also consider any potential conflicts of interest involving the complainant or other parties.
Author Notification and Response
If the allegation appears credible, the corresponding author will be contacted and asked to provide a detailed explanation on behalf of all co-authors.
Investigation and Evaluation
The editors will evaluate the response and may request additional evidence, consult independent experts, or involve relevant institutions when necessary.
Editorial Action
If the allegation is not substantiated, no further action may be necessary. If clarification or correction is sufficient to address the concern, the journal may publish a correction or other appropriate editorial notice. Manuscripts found to involve research misconduct will be rejected. If misconduct is confirmed in a published article, DEJ may issue a correction, retraction, or other appropriate editorial notice, depending on the severity and nature of the misconduct.
Institutional Involvement
When necessary, DEJ may refer the case to the authors’ affiliated institutions or other relevant authorities for further investigation. Institutions are encouraged to conduct thorough and impartial investigations into allegations of research misconduct. DEJ is committed to protecting the accuracy of the scholarly record. Authors, editors, reviewers, and affiliated institutions share responsibility for maintaining research integrity. All allegations will be handled carefully, and appropriate actions will be taken to correct the scholarly record and uphold the journal’s publication ethics.
