Artificial Intelligence Policy
1. Introduction
The Jurnal Manajemen Pendidikan Islam Darussalam (JMPID) recognizes the value of artificial intelligence (AI) and its potential to assist authors during the research and writing processes. JMPID welcomes developments in this field, as they can enhance opportunities for generating ideas, accelerating the discovery of research results, synthesizing or analyzing findings, refining language, and structuring manuscripts for submission.
Large Language Models (LLMs) and generative AI offer opportunities to accelerate research and its dissemination. While these opportunities can bring about significant changes, such technologies cannot replicate human creative and critical thinking abilities. The JMPID policy regarding the use of AI technology is designed to assist authors, reviewers, and editors in making informed decisions regarding the ethical use of such technology.
2. Permitted Use of AI
Authors are permitted to use AI tools or systems to assist with various aspects of manuscript preparation, including but not limited to:
Language editing and proofreading: AI can help identify grammatical and spelling errors and improve language fluency.
Reference management: AI tools can assist in managing citations, formatting references, and compiling bibliographies.
Plagiarism checking: AI-based plagiarism detection tools can be used to ensure the originality and integrity of the manuscript.
Data analysis: AI algorithms can assist in analyzing complex datasets and presenting results clearly and concisely.
3. Prohibited Use of AI
Although AI can be beneficial for various manuscript preparation tasks, there are limitations and specific areas where its use is not permitted:
Content generation: AI must not be used to generate the core content of the manuscript, including the introduction, methodology, results, and conclusion sections. Authors are expected to provide original ideas and intellectual contributions to the manuscript. Ethical considerations: AI must not be used to manipulate or fabricate data, generate misleading results, or engage in other unethical practices related to manuscript preparation.
4. Recommendations for AI Use
Authors who choose to use AI in manuscript preparation are advised to:
Verify AI-generated content: Authors must carefully review and validate any content generated or suggested by AI. Responsibility for the accuracy and quality of the manuscript remains with the author.
Disclose usage transparently: Authors are required to transparently disclose the use of AI during the manuscript submission process. This includes mentioning any AI-based tools used for language editing, plagiarism checking, or data analysis in the acknowledgments section.
Acknowledgments: Authors must appropriately acknowledge the contribution of AI tools or systems in the manuscript. This includes citing the specific software or tools used.
5. Ethical Considerations
Authors must adhere to ethical guidelines and academic integrity standards when using AI tools in manuscript preparation. Any AI-generated content that infringes on copyright, plagiarizes the work of others, or involves unethical practices will be considered a violation of publication ethics.
6. Editorial Review
Manuscripts submitted to the *Jurnal Manajemen Pendidikan Islam Darussalam* (JMPID)—whether or not they utilize AI assistance—will undergo the same rigorous peer-review process to evaluate scientific merit, originality, and adherence to ethical standards.
7. Policy Review
This policy regarding the use of AI tools in manuscript writing will be reviewed and updated periodically to adapt to advancements in AI technology and align with best practices in scholarly publishing.
