Correction and Retraction

Jurnal Manajemen Pendidikan Islam Darussalam (JMPID), managed by the Journal Center of Universitas KH. Mukhtar Syafaat, is committed to maintaining the accuracy, transparency, and integrity of the scholarly record. Should errors or ethical breaches be discovered in a published article, the journal will conduct an evaluation and take appropriate action based on the nature, severity, and impact of the issue on the validity and reliability of the article. This policy adheres to recognized principles of scholarly publishing ethics, including the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), where applicable.
1. Article Correction
A correction is issued when errors are identified in a published article that require rectification to ensure the accuracy of scientific information, without invalidating the study's core findings or conclusions. Such errors may include typos, factual inaccuracies, issues with tables or figures, errors in author identity or affiliation, or other mistakes that necessitate a formal correction.
Requests for corrections may be submitted by authors, readers, reviewers, or other parties who can provide relevant evidence. Each request will be evaluated by the editorial team. If a correction is approved, the journal will publish a correction notice transparently and link it to the original article. Changes must not be made in a way that obscures the publication history or misleads readers.
2. Article Retraction
An article is retracted when there is clear evidence that it contains serious issues that compromise the reliability or integrity of the publication. Grounds for retraction may include data fabrication or falsification, substantial plagiarism, unjustifiable redundant publication, fundamental errors that render the findings or conclusions unreliable, serious breaches of research ethics, or other violations that meet the criteria for retraction.
The decision to retract an article is made by the editorial team following a careful and objective examination of the available evidence. Authors are given the opportunity to provide an explanation or response. If necessary, the journal may seek the opinion of an independent expert or contact relevant institutions. The retraction of an article is not based solely on objections or scientific disagreements that lack sufficient evidence.
3. Procedures for Correction and Retraction of Articles
The procedures for handling corrections and retractions include:
a. Receipt of a report or identification of an issue regarding a published article.
b. Initial assessment by the editorial team of the report and supporting evidence.
c. Request for clarification from the author(s) or relevant parties, if necessary.
d. Evaluation of the evidence and, where required, consultation with an independent expert or relevant institution.
e. Decision-making based on the findings of the assessment and applicable publication ethics guidelines.
f. Publication of a correction notice or retraction statement that clearly and proportionately explains the reasons for the action taken.
During the assessment process, the journal may issue an "expression of concern" if there are indications of a serious issue that cannot yet be resolved, but for which readers must be promptly alerted.
4. Transparency and Access to Articles
Correction notices or retraction statements must be openly accessible and linked to the original article. For retracted articles, the journal will maintain the publication record and include a clear indication that the article has been retracted, along with the reasons for the retraction, the date, and other relevant information. Retracted articles are not removed from the publication archive, unless legal reasons or special circumstances necessitate a different approach.
5. Responsibilities of Authors and the Editorial Team
Authors are responsible for promptly notifying the editor if they discover significant errors in a published article or become aware of any ethical misconduct related to the article. Authors are required to cooperate during the clarification process and provide accurate information. The editorial team is responsible for handling every report fairly, objectively, and confidentially throughout the review process. Decisions must be based on sufficient evidence, take into account the right of the involved parties to respond, and remain free from personal, institutional, or commercial interests.
6. Commitment to Publication Integrity
Jurnal Manajemen Pendidikan Islam Darussalam (JMPID) implements policies regarding the correction and retraction of articles to protect readers, authors, the academic community, and the public from inaccurate or unreliable scientific information. Any such action is carried out in a proportionate and transparent manner, in accordance with the principles of academic integrity and the ethics of scientific publication.
Through this policy, Jurnal Manajemen Pendidikan Islam Darussalam (JMPID) under the management of the Journal Center of Universitas KH. Mukhtar Syafaat commits to upholding the credibility of its publications, taking accountability for every editorial decision, and maintaining the academic community’s trust in the scholarly record it publishes.
